Bent River Woodworks

We are a small family owned and operated business located in Capon Bridge, WV. The owner has been a cabinet maker for over 32 years. We began making log furniture in 1995 when we were furnishing our own recreational cabin. Our customers appreciated the beauty and quality of our work, so we’ve specialized in rustic homes since that time to meet their needs. We produce hand made furniture and cabinets designed to suit the decor of log and rustic homes. We can meet any of your interior needs including handrails, mantles, accessories, kitchen/bathroom cabinets and furniture. We are happy to build to meet your specific needs. Unlike many other rustic builders, we work in hardwoods and incorporate elm, oak, hickory and rare hardwoods into our designs. Hardwoods produce a more durable, lasting, and ridged product as well as provide aesthetic appeal. The process begins in the woods, where we carefully select local timber for character and functionality. Each piece of wood is then dried, graded and treated for wood destroying insects. Logs are carefully hand cut and crafted into furniture that maximizes the natural beauty and potential of the wood. Like all forms of art, every piece of furniture is a one of a kind creation. We offer two types of finishes, a natural hand rubbed oil, or a clear coat varnish. Our furniture is designed to enrich your home and provide years of enjoyment!

Ft. Edwards – French and Indian War

Was one of many forts guarding the Virginia frontier during the French and Indian War. In the late 1740’s, this river valley was one of several areas surveyed for Lord Fairfax by the young George Washington. In 1756, Col. Washington’s Virginia Regiment led a raid from the small fort which stumbled into an ambush of over 100 French and Indian raiders in the largest and most costly encounter between Virginia and French-Indian forces. Today, the Ft. Edwards Foundation preserves this historic site and operates a small Visitor Center with a museum, maps, and books. Located in Capon Bridge just 20 miles west of Winchester, the Center is open mid-June through mid-October on the weekends
