North River Mills/Ice Mt. Festival
26th Annual
We will celebrate the by-gone days of this 1700s village.
Enjoy a relaxing day in this once-bustling, now quiet hamlet.
Activities usually include (Double check closer to the event date):
Historical reenactors encampment – French & Indian- 18th century, Rutherford Rangers. Native American. Mark Bower often brings his hawk. Old time music jam on the porch.Interpretive/historical (sine us even true!) hay-less ride around the hamlet. Black smith. Steam engines & antique tractors and cars. Dan Oates, author (https://fortpearsallpress.com) and skilled chair caner, sets up on the inn porch. The North River Mills United Methodist Church folks provide refreshments.
The adjacent quiet dirt lane is a nice place for a hike.
C.C. Hall has an excellent site with info about the village: www.NorthRiverMills.org
North River Mills was designated a “Historical Landmark”. If you have old photos ( people or structures of the village), we would love to scan them. Often old timers come to swap stories of North River Mills, giving the day a homecoming feel.
Ted Kalvitis, the antique tractor guru, and his better half, Stephanie sometimes host the Narrow Gallery (corn crib) Art Show. (Contact us if you’re interested in exhibiting.)
Ice Mountain/ North River Mills docents may lead hikes to the cold vents and the overlook (probably early.)
