This is an all-level practice meant to help the body and mind wind down at the end of the day with moderately paced, mostly gentle movement, deep yogic (diaphragmatic) breathing, and relaxation. The class is open to individuals with any previous experience with yoga, including brand new practitioners, but will be best suited to those who are physically comfortable with movement that incorporates sitting on the floor, standing, and supine (on the back) positions. The instructor will offer variation and modifications throughout the class so that all who attend are able to access the movement comfortably.
I received my 200-hour yoga teacher certification from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram in Kerala, India, in 2012. Prior to receiving my certification, I also delved into meditation and spiritual yogic teachings under the guidance of a yoga tutor while studying abroad in Mysore, Karnataka, India.
Since 2012, I have continued to learn about yoga therapy, anatomy, teaching to accommodate specific injuries, and pre & postnatal yoga.
“Yog,” in Sanskrit, means “union:” I aim to lead yoga classes in a way that gives each practitioner the space to experience a sense of connection, or union, with the whole self that can carry over into life outside of our yoga practice.
